Events Getting involved in fresh
produce events and activities can be great fun. You can
also learn about new varieties, the origins of produce,
what's in fashion and new ways of preparing and presenting
dishes. Visit an open day at a farm or orchard, pick some
strawberries or take a friend to one of the many food shows
in your locality. Children love experiencing new things,
so if you have a family, why not get them involved too.
There are also lots of special promotional activities organised
through grower and other industry groups to highlight fresh
seasonal produce. Often you can collect free information
from your local greengrocer, enter competitions and be part
of a special tasting promotion in the local shopping centre.
Here's a list to get you started!

Victorian Retailer of the Year Awards.
The Victorian fruit and vegetable Retailer of the Year awards are organised through the Melbourne Wholesale Fruit, Veg & Flower Markets and are part of an industry program that aims to recognise the importance of local greengrocers and increase fresh produce sales. Retailers are independently mystery shopped through the year to rate performance against criteria such as customer service, communication of product information, product quality, variety, cleanliness, store layout and presentation. Over 650 retailers participate in the program and the Melbourne Markets Credit Service sponsored both the major awards in recognition of the key role that retailers play at the Markets.
