Valentine's Day

The 14th of February is a special time for love. Known as Valentine's Day, it is a world-wide tradition that acknowledges devotion for that special someone. Valentine's Day is a day to express your love and what better way to illustrate that affection than to give your sweetheart the perfect bunch of flowers. Everyone loves to receive fresh flowers rich in colour, sweet in scent - a gentle, tender, loving gift.

Flowers are the right present for so many events, but they were made for Valentine's Day. Why risk gift rejection when you can hit a home run with flowers. Clothes may not fit, chocolates and diets do not work together, but flowers will ALWAYS be appreciated and accepted with a smile.

When you think about flowers, they add so much beauty. What is a garden without flowers? What is the tango without a single stemmed rose? Valentine's Day without flowers is no Valentine's Day at all.

Offering flowers to someone and seeing their eyes light up can bring you the same joy as receiving them yourself. The gift of giving is made so much sweeter with the knowledge that you cannot go wrong with flowers. Not only are they the ideal present for Valentine's Day but they are a symbol of your inner feelings. All flowers have an underlying meaning, and there are 50 very special flowers which are perfect for saying 'I love you'.

The Origins of Valentines Day

The origins of Valentine's Day are said to date back to the third century when a priest by the name of Valentine performed marriages in spite of a ban against them. The Roman Emperor Claudius II wanted single men for his army, as men with wives were less inclined to leave for battle. Valentine was thrown in jail and he began a relationship with his jailor's daughter. The execution date for the priest was February 14. His very last message to his love was signed 'from your Valentine'.
