Old-Fashioned Lemonade




Refreshing tangy drink, combined with lemons and fresh mint, served on ice.



  • 12 to 15 lemons
  • 1 cup castor sugar
  • 2 litres tap water
  • 1 whole sliced lemon
  • 1/3 bunch fresh mint
  • 1/3 bunch vietnamese mint (optional)



  1. Cut lemons in half
  2. Cut 1/2 a lemon into slices for garnish
  3. Squeeze the rest of the lemons and collect the juice
  4. Pour the juice through a coarse sieve to remove pips
  5. Place lemon juice in a mixing bowl and add sugar, mix thoroughly to dissolve
  6. Add 3/4 of the water to the lemonade and taste, if required add the rest of the water
  7. Wash both varieties of mint and place large sprig of each in lemonade
  8. Place lemonade in fridge
  9. To serve place lemonade in serving pitcher, add slices of lemon and ice
