Seasonal Guide

Watermelon Basket with fruits

Glasshouse and hydroponic production has assisted to extend supply of some products beyond traditional seasonal boundaries.

Some produce items such as apples and pears, keep extremely well in controlled atmosphere storage. This enables the consumer to have access to good eating produce for significant periods after the harvesting season has finished.

"Mother Nature" still plays an important role in agricultural production. Climate conditions can significantly shorten or lengthen seasonal availability as well as impact on the quality and quantity of available produce.

We recommend that you check with your retailer particularly if you wish to obtain unusual items, or produce that is at the beginning or end of its harvesting season.

While our guide primarily relates to Australian grown produce some items may be sourced from overseas from time to time to supplement supply outside the normal harvesting season.

Your retailer is available to assist you with further information about the availability and origins of produce should you require further information. You can also check our Marketfresh Produce Report to get a summary of fresh news items.
