- Tommy Atkins |
| |
Description:
The Tommy Atkins mango is an oval-shaped mango that is more fibrous and has a blander taste than other varietals. It has a yellow-orange with deep red-purple blushed, thicker skin. Its popularity is based upon its availability as it bears fruit when other varietals are out of season. Because of its colour, disease resistance, and storage capabilities it has now become the most extensively planted export mango in the world and is the benchmark of the commercial mango. |
