Cooking and Eating for Well-being and Longer Life
- East a wide variety from all the food groups - vegetables, cereals, fruits, fish and meat and diary products.
- Find out which foods make you feel good and happy, and which ones don't suit you, for instance, if you have a particular problem such as high blood pressure, bad digestion, etc.
- Eat meals at regular times and don't miss meals
- Eat in a relaxed atmosphere; sit down and take your time
- Enjoy a nutritious breakfast for lasting energy.
- Enjoy a nourishing lunch - not too little, not too much.
- At dinnertime, eat just enough to satisfy your appetite, and eat at least three hours before going to bed.
- Learn to cook using a minimum of fat, salt and sugar (except for special occasions).
- Avoid fatty, salty and very sweet foods as snacks.
- Drink plenty of water. Drink alcohol and fizzy, sweet drinks in moderation.
- Learn to use herbs and spices as seasonings. Use hot, spicy seasonings in moderation.
- Keep fit and exercise daily. Enjoy life and don't work to hard.
