Vikki Leng

Vikki Leng's passion for enjoying life and her love of people, food, cooking and writing led her to a career as a campaign and event manager, publicist, author, food stylist, cooking presenter (events, television and radio) and food consultant. She came to public attention as "Vikki the Vego" in the early 80's and has since written 14 cookbooks and healthy eating manuals. She also produced and published the "Cancer Council's Eat! Enjoy!" cookbook.

Vikki has appeared as a regular guest on Channel Nine's "What's Cooking" program and the "Home Beautiful Famous Chefs Kitchen", and as a guest on many other television and radio programs over two decades. Her love of fresh produce also inspired her to produce her monthly "Aussie Fresh" column for Hospitality Magazine for seven years, and produce stunning tasty recipes and images showcasing fresh fruits and vegetables for publication.

Vikki enjoys bringing people together to pool their skills and to maximize their efforts. During her five-year appointment at Deakin University's Victorian Food and Nutrition Program, she worked with a diverse team of health, catering managers and chefs to develop, implement and evaluate the innovative Catering Improvement Program.

"Bringing the country to the city, and the city to the country" is another of Vikki's passions which she fulfils by orchestrating events where farmers, wine makers, chefs and the public can meet and "break bread together". Vikki has a special interest in working with growers of quality produce to maximize exposure of their produce to consumers and chefs.

Vikki currently works with Australian Mushroom Growers as their Victorian Promotions Coordinator. She has also developed the Australian Asparagus Council's national marketing and promotions campaign (including their website www.asparagus.com.au/ ) and the Murray Valley Citrus Board's Goldfruit Campaign.
