About Holmesglen’s Centre for Hospitality, Cookery and Bakery

‘Passion for food, flair for people’ represents the values and beliefs of Holmesglen’s Centre for Hospitality, Cookery and Bakery. The Centre is widely recognised for the exceptional levels of program delivery, highly trained and passionate staff, first-class facilities and the industry partnerships necessary to make training relevant to industry needs. Holmesglen students are given every opportunity to reach their career goals and aspirations.

The Centre for Hospitality, Cookery and Bakery encourages its teachers and students to compete in competitions at every available opportunity. Over the last few years, the Centre has won numerous awards including: Winner  best entree and main course at Tasting Australia Lifestyle Food Channel Competition, 2006, 2008; Best Overall Cookery Competitor at the Regional Culinary Competition and Best overall apprentice at the AUS TAFE National Culinary Challenge. Holmesglen bakery teacher - Scott Megee has also represented Australia on the international stage for the last 2 years at the SIGEP world Artisan Baking cup in Italy.

Sustainable food products are utilised in the two training restaurants, Cilantro at the Moorabbin Campus and Zest at Waverley. The Centre’s support of sustainable practices, food producers and regional tourism within Victoria assisted Holmesglen win the Tourism Education and Training category at the Melbourne Airport 2008, 2009 Victorian Tourism Awards. 

The Centre for Hospitality, Cookery and Bakery offers programs ranging from cookery, bakery, and patisserie to advanced wine studies and hospitality management in apprenticeship, certificate, diploma and advanced diploma level studies. Over 2000 students study across both campuses.
